Holiday entertaining should feel inviting. Put a wreath on the front door, string garlands around mirrors, and fill a large basket with poinsettias. If you want people to show up at your party send them a real printed invitation. When we don’t get a response to one of our parties we craft a lovely e-mail that says, “We hope that you are planning on attending. If we haven’t heard from you, please respond to us.” Sometimes even that doesn’t work, and those cases require a phone call.
